Pitch deck template
A 10-slide investor pitch in the order seed and Series A investors expect: problem, solution, market size, traction, business model, competition, team and the ask. There is also a monthly investor update deck for keeping backers informed after the round.
Templates
- Startup pitch deck (presentation): A 10-slide investor pitch that covers problem, solution, market, traction, business model, team and the ask.
- Monthly investor update (presentation): Keep investors informed each month with key metrics, wins, challenges, runway and specific asks.
- Company overview (presentation): Introduce your company to partners, new hires or clients: mission, what you offer, customers, team and contact.
How to use these templates
- Open the pitch deck and describe your company in two or three sentences, with your stage and how much you are raising.
- Give the AI your real numbers: customers, revenue, growth rate and market size, and the names and backgrounds of the founders.
- Rehearse with the deck and cut any slide you cannot explain in under a minute.
- Download as PowerPoint to present, and export a PDF to email to investors.
What investors look for in a pitch deck
- Lead with traction if you have it. A chart of revenue or users going up and to the right earns attention for every slide after it.
- Size the market from the bottom up: number of customers you can reach times what they pay. A top-down "1% of a $50B market" slide is one investors have learned to ignore.
- Say exactly how much you are raising, at what stage, and the milestones the money gets you to, such as revenue, a launch or the next round.
- Keep it to 10 to 12 slides. A deck you email gets about three minutes of reading time; a live pitch is often 10 to 20 minutes including questions.
- Send a PDF, not an editable file, and keep the detailed financial model for when investors ask for it.
Frequently asked questions
How many slides should a pitch deck have?
Ten to twelve for the main deck. Keep extra detail, such as product screenshots, the financial model and customer case studies, in an appendix.
What is the difference between a pitch deck and a business plan?
A pitch deck is a short visual story meant to win a meeting or an investment. A business plan is a longer written document with detailed operations and financials. Most early-stage investors ask for the deck first.
Should I include financial projections?
A simple slide with three to five years of revenue and the key assumptions behind it helps at seed stage. Investors care more about how you reached the numbers than the numbers themselves.
Can I use this for a competition or demo day?
Yes. Ask the AI to "shorten this to a 3-minute pitch" to cut it to five or six slides.
