Teacher resume template
A teacher resume for school jobs that leads with your certification, the subjects and grades you teach, and the results your students got. It works for public, private and international schools, and has space for B.Ed., CTET and board experience for teaching jobs in India.
Templates
- Teacher resume (document): An ATS-friendly teacher resume with certification, subjects and grade levels, classroom results, differentiated instruction and professional development, for school, CBSE, IB and international teaching jobs.
- ATS-friendly resume (document): A one-page resume built to pass applicant tracking systems: single column, standard section headings, plain bullets and a keyword-rich skills line that ATS software reads correctly. Use it for any online job application.
How to use these templates
- Open the teacher resume and tell the AI your subject, the grades you teach, years in the classroom and the job you are applying for.
- Give it your evidence: test or board exam results, a unit you designed, a club you run or a programme you started.
- Ask it to "match the skills line to this job posting" and paste the posting, so curriculum names like IB, CBSE or Common Core appear exactly as the school writes them.
- Download as PDF for district and school portals, and send your teacher cover letter with it.
Making a teacher resume stand out to principals
- Put the subject and grade band in your summary and job titles, such as "Grade 9–10 Mathematics Teacher". Principals and district HR systems search by exactly those words.
- Show student outcomes with numbers: pass rates, average score gains, reading levels or the share of students meeting a target.
- Mention how you teach students with different needs, such as IEPs, English learners or gifted students, in at least one bullet.
- List classroom technology you actually use, for example Google Classroom, Canvas or an interactive whiteboard.
- In India, list B.Ed. with the university and year, your CTET or State TET result, and the boards you have taught (CBSE, ICSE, IB or State Board).
- Keep a teaching philosophy for your cover letter or portfolio. On the resume, one line in the summary is enough.
Frequently asked questions
How do I write a teacher resume with no experience?
Put your certification and student teaching first. Treat your practicum like a job: the school, grade, subject, the unit you taught and how students did. Add tutoring, coaching or camp work as experience.
Should a teacher resume be one or two pages?
One page for new and early-career teachers. Two pages is common for experienced teachers with leadership roles, curriculum work or many years at different schools.
What skills should a teacher put on a resume?
The ones the posting asks for, using its wording. Lesson planning, differentiated instruction, classroom management, assessment, the curriculum you know and the tools you use are the most searched.
