One-page resume templates
All of these templates are built to fit on a single page, which is what most recruiters prefer for anyone with under ten years of experience. If your draft runs over, the AI can tighten it to one page without dropping your best results.
Templates
- Resume (document): A clean one-page resume with summary, experience, education and skills, ready to fill in and tailor to any job.
- ATS-friendly resume (document): A one-page resume built to pass applicant tracking systems: single column, standard section headings, plain bullets and a keyword-rich skills line that ATS software reads correctly. Use it for any online job application.
- Modern resume (document): A bold one-page resume with a coloured header and highlights section that stands out to design-friendly employers and in referrals. Use the ATS-friendly resume for online applications.
- CV template (UK) (document): A one-page UK CV with a personal profile, key skills, employment history and A-level and GCSE results, written in British English with no photo or date of birth, as UK employers expect.
How to use these templates
- Choose a layout: classic, ATS-friendly, modern or the UK CV.
- Paste in your current resume, even if it is two or three pages long.
- Ask the AI to "cut this to one page, keeping the strongest numbers". Review what it removed and put back anything that matters for this job.
- Download as PDF so the page break stays exactly where you see it.
How to fit a resume on one page
- Cover the last 10 to 15 years in full. Older roles can shrink to a single line with title, company and years, or go entirely.
- Give your current or most recent job four or five bullets, earlier jobs two or three. Each bullet should fit on one or two lines.
- Merge skills into one comma-separated line instead of a long list, and drop basics like "Microsoft Word" or "email".
- Remove "References available on request" and a full street address. City and state, or town, is enough.
- Margins down to about half an inch and body text at 10 to 11 points are still easy to read. Going smaller than that usually means the content needs cutting, not shrinking.
Frequently asked questions
Is a one-page resume always better?
For students, graduates and most people with under ten years of experience, yes. Senior managers, executives, academics and many UK applicants commonly use two pages, and that is expected.
Will a recruiter read page two?
They may, but the decision to keep reading is made on page one. Put your summary, current role and best results there in any case.
Can I make the font smaller to fit?
A little. Ten or eleven point body text is fine; anything below that is hard to read on screen and when printed. Cut weaker bullets first.
