How to use these templates

  1. Pick the classic resume for a local job or campus role, or the ATS-friendly one if you are applying through an online portal.
  2. Tell the AI your school, expected graduation date and the job, for example "high school junior applying to be a lifeguard this summer".
  3. List anything where you had responsibility: a club, a team, tutoring, babysitting, a family business or volunteering. Ask it to turn each into one result-focused bullet.
  4. Download as PDF and name the file with your name, such as "Maya-Patel-Resume.pdf".

What to put on a student resume

Frequently asked questions

What if I have no work experience at all?

Use a section called "Experience and activities" and include volunteering, school leadership, sports and projects. Employers hiring students expect this, and they mainly want to see that you showed up and took responsibility.

Should a student resume have an objective?

A one-line summary helps when your experience does not obviously match the job, for example "Reliable high school senior seeking a weekend cashier role". Keep it specific to the job.

Should I list high school on a college resume?

Usually only until your second year of college, or if the school is relevant to the employer. After that your college degree replaces it.

How long should a student resume be?

One page, always. Recruiters at career fairs and campus events read dozens of student resumes in an hour.
