Nurse resume template

A registered nurse resume that puts what hospital recruiters check first at the top: your licence, BLS and ACLS, and the units you have worked on. It keeps to one column with standard headings, so hospital applicant tracking systems such as Workday and Taleo read it cleanly.

Frequently asked questions

Should I put my nursing licence number on my resume?

Listing the licence type, state and expiry date is enough for most applications. Add the number if the posting asks for it; employers verify it independently in any case.

How long should a nursing resume be?

One page for new graduates and nurses with a few years of experience. Two pages is fine for experienced nurses with several specialties, charge nurse or leadership roles.

How do I write a new grad nurse resume?

Lead with your licence (or "NCLEX scheduled for" a date), BLS, then education with clinical rotations and your preceptorship. Add any healthcare job such as nursing assistant or patient care technician as experience.

Can I use this for a travel nurse or Indian hospital job?

Yes. For travel nursing add the compact or state licences you hold and the length of each contract. For Indian hospitals, list your B.Sc. Nursing or GNM and State Nursing Council registration.
