One-page business plan template
A business plan that fits on a single page: the problem, your solution, target customers, competition and your advantage, how you make money, how you will sell, the team, goals for the next twelve months and the funding you need. It is the quickest way to test an idea, brief a co-founder or prepare for a first conversation with a lender or investor.
Templates
- One-page business plan (document): Capture your whole business on one page: problem, solution, customers, revenue, competition, goals and funding needs.
- Startup pitch deck (presentation): A 10-slide investor pitch that covers problem, solution, market, traction, business model, team and the ask.
How to use these templates
- Open the template and describe the business in two or three sentences, for example "home-cooked tiffin service for office workers in Whitefield, ₹3,000 a month subscription".
- Ask the AI to fill each section, then replace any guesses with numbers you have checked, such as prices, costs and customer counts.
- Set three goals for the next twelve months, each with a number and a date.
- Download as PDF to share, and turn it into slides with the pitch deck template when you meet investors.
Making a one-page plan useful
- Describe customers narrowly. "Busy parents" is everyone; "parents of under-fives in two neighbourhoods with no nursery nearby" is a market you can reach.
- Name real competitors and alternatives, including doing nothing or using a spreadsheet. Saying you have none makes readers doubt the plan.
- Show the unit economics in a line: price, cost to deliver and what is left. It tells a reader more than a five-year forecast.
- Keep it to one page. If a section needs more, it belongs in a fuller plan or an appendix.
- Revisit the plan every quarter and update it with what you have learned.
Frequently asked questions
Is a one-page business plan enough for a bank loan?
It is a good start, but lenders usually want more, such as financial statements or projections, cash flow and details of security. Use the one-page plan to frame the conversation and ask the lender what they need.
What is the difference between a business plan and a pitch deck?
A business plan is a written document that explains the business. A pitch deck is a short slide presentation used to tell the story to investors in a meeting. Many founders write the plan first and build the deck from it.
What is a lean canvas?
A one-page format with boxes for problem, solution, key metrics, unfair advantage and so on. This template covers similar ground in a document layout that is easier to read and share.
Can I use it for a college assignment?
Yes. Ask the AI to add a short market analysis and a simple financial table if your brief asks for them.
