Convert Excel to PDF
Turn an Excel workbook (.xlsx) or a CSV file into a PDF that looks the way Excel prints it: the same column widths, number formats, fonts, colours, borders, merged cells, pictures and charts, with the print area, orientation, scaling and page breaks set in the file. It runs in your browser, so your data is never uploaded.
How to use Excel to PDF
- Choose one or more Excel or CSV files.
- Pick the sheets to include, and change scaling, orientation or gridlines if you like.
- Click Convert to PDF and the PDF downloads.
Frequently asked questions
Will the PDF look like my spreadsheet?
Yes. Column widths, row heights, merged cells, number and date formats, fonts, bold and italic text, fill colours, borders, wrapped and rotated text, pictures and bar, column, line, area, pie and scatter charts are kept, and pages break where Excel would break them.
Does it use my print settings?
Yes. The print area, portrait or landscape, Fit to page width, scaling, margins, centring, rows repeated at the top of each page, manual page breaks, headers and footers with page numbers, and the gridlines setting all come from the file. You can override scaling, orientation and gridlines before converting.
Can I choose which sheets to convert?
Yes. All visible sheets are included by default; untick the ones you don't want, or convert only the active sheet. Hidden sheets are left out unless you include them.
Can I convert a CSV file?
Yes. Columns are sized to fit their contents, gridlines are printed, and wide files are turned to landscape and scaled to fit the page width, with page numbers in the footer. Comma, semicolon and tab separated files all work.
Can I convert an old .xls file?
Not yet. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, save it as .xlsx, then convert it here. Password-protected workbooks need the password removed first.
What about formulas?
Cells show the results saved in the file. If a workbook was saved without results (some programs do this), common formulas such as SUM, IF, VLOOKUP and ROUND are calculated when converting.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark on your file.
Are my files uploaded?
Your file is processed in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers. The fonts a workbook uses (usually 1 to 2 MB) are downloaded the first time and kept by your browser.
