Frequently asked questions

Will my Word document look like the PDF?

Yes, as closely as possible. Fonts, sizes, bold and italic text, colours, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, images, links, page size, margins and page breaks are kept. Text flows as normal paragraphs, so it is easy to edit.

Are tables converted into real Word tables?

Yes. Tables with lines become Word tables with the same columns, borders, shading and merged cells. Simple tables without lines, where text sits in aligned columns, also become Word tables.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Not yet. A scan is a picture of text, so it needs OCR to read the words, which is coming soon. For now we tell you when a PDF is scanned, and you can still get a Word file with the page pictures.

Does it work with multi-column layouts?

Two-column passages, like newsletters and papers, become two-column sections in Word. Very complex designs, such as brochures with overlapping text boxes, may shift and need some tidying.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark on your file.

Are my files uploaded?

Your file is processed in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers.
